Ashley Chin, known to many as Muslim Belal, is a South London-born actor, rapper, spoken word poet, and Islamic speaker whose life story is one of the most remarkable transformations in British Muslim public life.

Having built a successful career in film and television — starring in BBC productions including Storm Damage, Victim, and Law & Order UK, as well as the cult British comedy Anuvahood — Ashley's life took a profound turn when he converted to Islam in 2002. That decision became the foundation of everything that followed, inspiring his powerful talk From the Streets to Islam which has resonated with audiences across the UK and beyond.

In recognition of his contributions to the arts and community, Ashley was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from London South Bank University. Most recently, he co-directed Apnas — the British Pakistani crime drama set in Manchester whose trailer amassed nearly five million views — and whose cast will be appearing live at MONOS MARKETS 2026 for an exclusive industry workshop.
